8 months!

Happy 8 months, Jake!

Jake has been very busy rolling around & scooting on his tummy. He can make his way across his bedroom to get to a toy or to the rocker or basically whatever he is interested in.

When he's not babbling or yelling, he is making a sucking noise with his mouth & lips which he finds hilarious.

He is still a very happy baby but he's figuring out how to throw a mini tantrum when he doesn't get something that he wants (usually this has to do with food).
I've heard that he also gets jealous at daycare when it's the other baby's turn to eat or get a bottle.

We installed his convertible carseat- which he can use through toddlerhood- and he seems to like it much better than his infant bucket seat. It looks pretty comfy to me & it even has cupholders!

Jake still loves his bouncer, sitting on the couch and playing with his box of toys, eating & going for walks. He also really likes his quiet time in his crib just playing with a blankie & relaxing.

He has become a very good daytime napper at home and is starting to get used to napping at daycare.
At night, he usually only wakes once to nurse somewhere between 2-4am. He usually wakes for the day around 7am.

He does not like when we put sunscreen on him or when we wipe him down after he makes a mess eating. He also hates getting his nails trimmed.

Recently he has also started to protest during diaper changes. It's like changing the diaper on the tasmanian devil. Not fun. He rolls & thrashes & it's near impossible to get the diaper fastened.
So he has started to get a firm "no" from me when he does this and I try to change that thing as fast as I can.

Our next doctors appointment is at 9 months- can't wait to see how much he's grown!

7 months!

Jake was 7 months old about 2 weeks ago.

He is sitting up and rolling all over the place. He just started to try to scoot when he's on his tummy and he really wants to move around more. Time to babyproof!

He got his 2 bottom teeth at the same time a few weeks ago! He did pretty well while the teeth were cutting through- he napped a lot and was pretty clingy for 2 or 3 days and then he was back to normal.

He started a new daycare a couple of weeks ago and he really seems to like it. He made a new friend- a 6 month old named Lucy.

Just like his parents, Jake LOVES to eat. His daycare provider even commented about how much he loves his bottles & food!

So far Jake has had avocado, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, oatmeal, mango, pears, watermelon, and blueberries. He also eats "puffs" from time to time.
He isn't crazy about carrots or peas, but he likes everything else. He loves mango & pears.

His eyes are hazel right now and we're thinking they're going to stay that way.

He's also been enjoying his pool lately! So far he's having a great summer!

6 months!

Jake is 6 months old!
At his 6 month check-up, he was 14 lb 13 oz and 25.75 inches long.
He's still on the smaller end of the growth chart, but is healthy and meeting all milestones.

We have been practicing sitting up (on his own) and rolling over from back to stomach. He's getting better at both. He's rolled a few times but he won't stay on his stomach for long. We've noticed that he has started to roll over in his sleep and will sleep on his stomach for a while. His favorite sleeping position, though, is on his side.

Jake has been showing an interest in the dogs. He smiles when he gets kisses from them and he loves to try to grab Buddy. Buddy will tolerate Jake for a minute before he jumps out of reach and Maxie tries to lick Jake's hands & feet constantly.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!

We visited Nonni (my mom) last week and took Jake to see his first Easter bunny and this was the result.
I guess it's better than a pic of him crying in terror?

This particular bunny was a bit dingy looking and I was so nervous about putting my baby on his lap that I forgot to take Jake's bib off. Oh well. I'm sure we'll be laughing about this picture for years to come.

Hope you all have a great Easter!

5 months!

Jake is 5 months old! We don't know his weight this month, but we're guessing he's around 14.5 lbs.
He is wearing 6 mo size clothing, but some pieces are still a bit too big.

He still likes his paci, but its become more of a toy during the daytime. He's been putting it in his mouth upside down lately and playing with it like a teether toy.

He uses it to soothe himself when he's in his carseat and he sucks on it for a few minutes before falling asleep at night.

He also sucks his thumb every now & then, but not often.

He loves to chew on Sophie

His eyes are still steely blue and it's hard to tell what color they will end up being. We think they might turn hazel or even brown.

He' starting to enjoy tummy time and is working on rolling over from back to stomach. He's been able to roll from stomach to back for a while now.
He's also recently figured out how to chew on his feet while he's lying down.

4 months!

It's hard to believe that Jake is 4 months old already!

weight: 13 lb 4 oz
24.5 inches long

As our pediatrician said, he's not the biggest guy on the block but he's healthy & growing and there is no cause for concern. He's just a little peanut.

Jake is still VERY interested in his hands and he's often chewing or sucking on his fingers. He's also reached the stage where everything he picks up goes directly into his mouth.

His new trick is to take his hat off when he's in his carseat and chew on it. He moves his head back & forth until the hat falls off and then he grabs it & chews on it.
Lately he's also been taking his paci out of his mouth and trying to put it back in himself.

He is babbling a lot more and is usually very talkative in the morning. Of course, he stops every time we take out the camcorder to try to record him. He also stops smiling as soon as he sees the camera so getting a smiley pic of him is really difficult!
He's got the cutest little laugh and enjoys being tickled & kissed.

He's starting to get more comfortable in his bumbo seat.
He has good head & neck control now, but we are still struggling with tummy time. He just hates it.
We keep trying so he can strengthen his upper body, but he always cries or just rolls himself from stomach to back.

3 months!

Here is Jacob's 3 month update:

He's started to laugh when he really enjoys something.
He just started exercising his voice more and is letting out a little yell every now & then.
He is still very much entertained by his hands and they are often in his mouth. He's gotten his thumb in his mouth a couple of times, but he still can't hold it in there very long.
He LOVES his little Aden & Anais lovey blankie.
He's starting to grasp toys a little better- he likes his Sophie giraffe teether and a small stuffed caterpillar rattle.

His next doctor's appointment is at 4 months, so we have a couple weeks to go to see how much he has grown since his last check-up.

2 months!

Jacob was 2 months old yesterday!
He is 11 lbs 7 oz and 22.25 inches long (25-50th percentile).

Poor little guy had a rough day yesterday. He missed his morning nap since we were getting ready to leave the house and he fell sound asleep in the car on the way to the Dr.
He woke up (unhappily) in the exam room while I was stripping him down to his diaper for his check-up. He had to get two shots- one in each thigh- and an oral vaccine. He cried for a few minutes afterwards and then about a half hour after we got home he was inconsolable for a good 40 minutes. I finally gave him some infant tylenol since he was so miserable and nothing else was making him feel better.  The tylenol helped, but he was still pretty grumpy for the rest of the day.

I did manage to take his 2 month pictures before his little meltdown... but he wouldn't give me a smile!

1 month!

Jake was one month old on Sunday!
He had his check-up at the Dr today and here are his stats:

weight: 9 lb 10 oz

length: 21.5 inches

50th percentile for height and weight.

And in true Cigoy fashion, his head circumference is in the 75th percentile :)
